The weekend is finally here.

Valentines Day turned out to be a bit hectic for me. I was called in to work in the evening, and it turns out that all the desperate people without dates were attempting to shop away their sadness. So it turned out to be an interesting night at work. One customer even asked if he could borrow my pen to write in a card he had just bought. (I guess he must be one of those last gasp people)
The day after Valentines Day (does that have a special name too?) was rather eventful too. I went to the mall to have a look at a phone I was considering getting, and the salespeople were so nice and friendly I actually bought it! So my new baby is a Nokia 6280, on the three network. I tried to watch some online videos as soon as I got my phone, and it all worked seamlessly! The only interesting thing with the reception on three is that I roam when i am at home. I guess thats a good thing, because it stops me working up my "planet 3" bill while I am at home.
After I adopted my new baby, I went to Shane's house to watch a few DVDs. We watched about 4 or 5 episodes of Family Guy. I had never seen it before, but I found it really funny, I should try and catch it on TV more often... or burn Shane's DVDs. DVD watching had to end at about 4.30 so I could beat the traffic home.
That evening Chris and I went to dinner and to see a movie. we went to see "Keeping Mum". It has Rowan Atkinson in it, but he plays a role that I didn't really expect. The movie was great, but you have to watch it without any expectations at first.
Friday morning I walked to the train station and caught the train to Uni. I met the guys from Germany in there, and we worked together to prepare our exhibition about our adventures. The morning went well, and we managed to set up the space as we wanted it. Linda, Mauris, Leon, Diana, Felicia and I went to lunch once we were finished setting up. We went to TGI Fridays in the Jam Factory, I had never been there before, but they had MASSIVE helpings.

Yes, I know today is valentine's day, but something far more interesting happened here today. My little brother, Peter, came home from the USA. He has spent almost 2 months over there, staying with family and friends. Mum, Phil and I arrived at the airport about a quarter of an hour after Peter's plane landed but we still ended up waiting at the gate for what seemed like forever. I think in reality it was about 2 hours. Welcome home Peter! 

We just had lunch with Auntie Lorraine. She leaves very early tomorrow morning. She is heading back to her home in Queensland. 

It dosent take long to fill up my new shelves with junk! luckily I have somewhere to display my uni work now.  

Yay! I got some new shelves from IKEA in Richmond. Mark helped me put them up, which was good, because it would have taken me hours. I couldnt really lift it out of my car by myself, so it was good that Mark could give me a hand.  

Is this my new home? Situated on the foreshore at Docklands, this property would be worth quite a bit. I would love to see the view from the top.  

While visiting Docklands, we discovered that the volvo race is in town shortly.  

This is Melbourne. 

I think this is the new set of stairs in the state library that Dad designed. Look at the contrast with the old fire escape down the circular staircase.  

We visited the ASX (Australian stock exchange) in Melbourne. It's just opposite the rialto tower.  

On Tuesday I took the day with Auntie Lorraine to show her around the city. We visited the shrine of rememberance. It was amazing to see all the work that was put into building this memorial after the war.  

After over an hour of back breaking labour, my IKEA desk is finally assembled. I worked out that it isnt that much smaller than my old desk. 

On Sunday afternoon, we went to Chris's Nanna's house to celebrate her birthday. We stayed for lunch, followed by a very nice cake and mountains of ice cream. Tim and Rachel are enjoying the ice cream. =P 

Saturday night was spent at the rodeo. That's right, watching the bucking bulls and the horses. Diana's partner, Scott had suggested that we go along because he used to ride in the rodeo. Chris decided to try on Scott's hat, dosen't he look like a cowboy? HaHa! 

Grandpa turned 83 yesterday. All the family tried to visit him in hospital. He will have been in hospital almost 3 months due to a fall he had shortly after I left for Germany. Grandpa is making progress in his re-habilitation. The hospital is teaching him to walk again now that the bone in his leg has healed.  

These are the blinks when they are closed. When I bought them they went all the way down to the floor, but I shortened them using my handy standley knife and a hot glue gun. They could probably be shortened a little further, but I don't know if I will bother. 

Since I moved across the hallway into my brothers' old room, I decided the old curtains were not going up again! These are the blinds I scored for a bargain price from Kmart, they were only $6.27!! The RRP is about $40 I think.  

Long Weekend

Now, I know a week has past since my last post... Actually, more than a week. There have been alot of changes in that week, starting off with me making my return to work at Kmart. Nothing much has changed at Kmart since I left for Germany. There are two new people, who both seem very nice, I guess they were hired to replace me over the Christmas period. The other change in my life is that my bedroom is now in Peter and Phil's old room. We swapped bedrooms because Phil said he and Peter needed the bigger room now that David moved out. I guess they are right, so I'm mostly all moved across the hall. I just need to buy a bookcase so I have somewhere to put my textbooks for Uni.
Thursday the 26th was Australia Day, a public holiday for almost everyone I think. Because it fell on a Thursday, many people decided to take the Friday off too, creating a long weekend. Mum and Dad decided to do this, and they took Phil down to Phillip Island in the caravan for a couple days. From what I can gather, it wasnt very good weather for the beach. I wasn't able to go, because I had work on Saturday and Sunday which needed attending to. Also, Friday night was Rachel's 21st Birthday Party, I couldn't miss that for the world!
Rachel's 21st was the highlight of the week. It was a cocktail party hosted at the Jenkinson's house. Everyone made an effort to get dressed up for the party, and we have photos to prove it. Chris and I were the designated papperatzi for the evening, so many happy snaps were taken during the night.
Chris and I got Rachel two turtles for her birthday, because her last turtle (named Flea-Flea) ran away.
