Peter tuned 18 today, and to celebrate his birthday, we went out to dinner in Upper Ferntree Gully. The meal was very nice, and we topped it all off with some nice angel food cake. Happy Birthday Peter. Posted by Picasa

This morning, to celebrate Halloween, Phil and I carved a pumpkin in the traditional haloween style. Happy Halloween everyone! Posted by Picasa

I decided to tidy my room yesterday, and I found these all hiding under my bed! plus there is one pair on my feet! so that means I had 10 pairs! I could only bring myself to cut down to 6 pairs. In other news, today is Peter's birthday! He is turning 18, and managed to get his first specialist maths exam today. Our family will go out for dinner tonight to celebrate. Happy Birthday Peter. Today is also Halloween (even though it isnt really recognised in Australia.) So happy halloween to all. I must get going, becuse I need to make a card for Peter and I'm supposed to start revising for my first exam. I need lots of luck there! lol.  Posted by Picasa

This is the Wireless Medical Communications Device. We worked so hard on it, and our presentation went well today, so thats a relief. Posted by Picasa

The last day of second year.

It's 8.30am, on the last day of classes for this semester. I'm sitting in the Engineering West computer lab. I have never seen this computer lab so empty. There are only about 10 people here. I am nervously waiting for the rest of my group to get here. We agreed to meet at 9am, so I am just a little early.
Today is our major presentation for our Sustainable Communications project. It's worth quite a bit, and most of our mark is based on just 10 slides presented on powerpoint. So I guess you all can see why I would be nervous. The good news is that after this presentation, I am free to just study for the exams. Tonight I will be taking a break though. Chris and I plan to goto Ikea to try and find a gift for my little brother and Cheyne, who both have birthdays coming up this weekend.
Peter, my little brother, is completeing year 12 this year, and today has the most important exam of his life. He will be sitting the VCE english exam sometime this morning, which is weighted the most heavily for applications to university. I hope and pray he does well. The english exam only marks the beginning of the exam period though. Peter has exams for all his other subjects too. One of his hardest exams is on the 31st of October, this is for Specialist Maths. That's the hardest level maths for VCE, and also his 18th birthday. As you can imagine, he's pretty annoyed to have an exam on his birthday. The night of the 31st we are planning on having a nice family meal with David, Nyssa, Grandma and Grandpa. I'm looking forward to the cake. hehe.
My day yesterday was spent going to revision lectures and tutorial classes. I was most annoyed that one of my tutoral teachers didnt even bother showing up for our revision class. It was the hardest subject too... typical! After I realised he wasn't going to show, I made my way over to Prahran campus to work on my design project with Weeksy and Gav. The project was all done by about 4.30pm, then Gav and I went to the bookshop to buy a few things for the presentation. I got a A5 visual diary for the Germany trip and some pens. For the group project we purchased binding stuff, and some clear acetate. So our folio should look pretty slick.
I got home around 6.15, and burned our project to a mini CD, I also made a snazzy front cover for the disc. It looks really professional. I should post some photos of it later today.
After dinner, I went off to Rita's house to discuss wedding videos. We watched some of the parts that she had already transferred to the computer, and watched most of the tape I had recorded on Kelly's camera. The video turned out really great! we have lots of footage to choose from, and hopefully we will be able to put together a really professional looking DVD disc. I'm hopeful that we can get most of that done before I leave for Germany, but I have to be careful to put enough time aside to review for exams!
It's now 8.52, and no sign of Weeksy or Gav. I hope they can find me. Wow, I sound like a panic merchant. I should probably go now, and do some real work. Until next time, -Andrew

This is me actually at Uni... In a lecture no less... You can see, we get lots of work done in these lectures.  Posted by Picasa

This is the product of my "photo shoot" on Sunday. This poster will be available on some kind of digital display unit at the university I will be visiting while I am in Germany.  Posted by Picasa

Life + Universe + Everything = 42

[Life + Universe + Everything = 42] If only maths were so easy.
I thought it might be about time for another wordy post, seen as my last
posts are just photos with captions. I should be excused from this
practice, as I have just gotten a new digital camera. It's a Canon IXUS
55, and so far has proven itself to be worth every cent I paid for it. I
ended up getting my baby from JB Hi-Fi for $557 (which Evan maintains is
a waste of money) It came with a official Canon IXUS case, which is
worth about $50, so I figure I paid about $507 for the camera itself.
Not a bad deal really, considering the RRP is $600. The lady was very
nice and threw in an extra microfibre cleaning cloth. After charging up
my new toy's battery, I started shooting loads of photos, and had a play
with the video functions too. The videos I managed to take with it were
quite impressive, and there is cables provided to hook it up to a TV for
replay with sounds and all!!
One of the first things I did with my new IXUS 55 was to take photos of
me in my newly comissioned robin outfit. This was made in preperation
for our rover crew's annual dress up tram party. I helped organise the
evening, and it turned out to be loads of fun. There were lots of people
there, and everyone turned up in costume. I was very excited to find out
that we completely filled te tram to capacity!
The day after the party tram I spent working on my friend's computer
network. Chris and I manged to program the router to sign in
automatically to a bigpond cable internet connection, and then patch
that through to other computers on the network. Quite exciting really.
Then I worked on an assignment for uni that involved posing with my
favourite object (in this case, my Palm). That was hard work. LOL. Not
really, I loved having my photo taken. I got a little grumpy at Chris
though, when he didn't tell me what to do or how to stand. It makes it
very difficult. I will try and post up my completed assignment. It's
going to be on display over in Germany before I go over there.
Speaking of Germany... There is 18 days until I leave for the adventure
of my life. I will fly out of Melbourne on the 13th of November, then we
have a short stop over in Dubai before continuing onto Frankfurt.
This is the last week of classes, so I am trying to be extra good and
take lots of notes in all my lectures. I started a practice exam today,
which seemed easy, but has a couple of curly questions on it that I got
stuck on. My worst exam is up first. It's on the 4th of November, and
will be hard to study for because our lecturer refuses to give us a
formula sheet or a practice exam. The next two exams arent much to worry
about, they are on the 10th of November and the 11th of November. Then I
have one weekend to pack before I leave for Germany.
At the end of this week I have a group assignment due, but Gavin and
Andrew (the other guys in my group) have been great, and seem to have
everything under control. We present a 10 min power point presentation
on Friday that will determine 60% of our mark, or something rediculous
like that. But I think we have it all under control.
Anyway, I had better head off, I have to catch a 7.30am train tomorrow
morning and I need some beauty sleep.

I will only have to have that UGLY P plate for one more year. My car needs a clean.  Posted by Picasa

Waiting for the train in the morning is usually a cold and windy experience, but this morning it was sunny and windy. A nice change. LOL Posted by Picasa
