Ahh... memories of the PDE BBQ.  Posted by Picasa

Faster than a speeding train.... well, not really, but I did get blurred on my way out of the rocket's emergency exit. Posted by Picasa

Diana, playing on the horseys! Posted by Picasa

I even tried to climb the red rocket! Posted by Picasa

Just to be fair, I am a little kid at heart too.  Posted by Picasa

Typical... we hardly get any work done at school. Posted by Picasa

We are all just big kids. (Linda espicially) LOL. Just kidding Linda, we love you.  Posted by Picasa

Spencer Street Station (AKA: Southern Cross Station) is looking very spiffy. It's all glamed up for the games. The new architecture reminds me partly of train stations in Germany and partly of that great novel "The Day of the Triffids". I dont know if anyone else can see where I am coming from.  Posted by Picasa

The Wench. This is a winch I have to design for a project. It has given me a head ache. I don't like it. I hope to get some help from Dad about it tonight.  Posted by Picasa

Back to normal

The craziness of the Commonwealth Games has worn off in just two short days, and I am back into my rut of doing school work seemingly 24-7. I am still house sitting, which is going well.. but for some reason I dont seem to have as restful sleep there as I do at my own home. I have been showing up to uni tired and falling asleep in classes. It's only for a week, so it wont be that bad. Maybe I am more tired because I am not starting my day with my brisk walk to the train station as I have been doing for the past month? Anyways, it's forcing me to rely on my car more, which is not a good thing. I guess I can't do much about that though.
I stumbled on a good, entertaining blog (thanks to the owner of it commenting on here) it's available at http://dustinterrazas.blogspot.com/ I am sure everyone will want to subscribe to his RSS feed. Quite entertaining reading.
This Friday is the trivia night, I am so excited. Chris and I have organized a table of 10 so we are going to have so much fun!

The end. What a wild 11 days. Back to boring life again.  Posted by Picasa

After the fireworks display, John Farnam played a couple of his most loved tracks for the athletes to dance to.  Posted by Picasa

Melbourne sure knows how to do fireworks... maybe thats because we are all pyros deep down.  Posted by Picasa

Fireworks not only over the MCG, but over the entire city and along the river.  Posted by Picasa

Typical Aussies... top off the night with a song from our favourite drag queen; Dame Edna. Posted by Picasa

Australia ended up on top of the ladder as far as medals go. An Indian guy won the most medals given to one person though.  Posted by Picasa

Bye Bye Melbourne! Posted by Picasa

The 2010 Commonwealth games are being held in India. There was a celebration of Indian-ness at the closing ceremony.  Posted by Picasa

Australia was quite literally ontop of the world tonight! Posted by Picasa

Fake snow to celebrate the great effort that the volenteers went to in organising the games.  Posted by Picasa

I loved this bit. The dancers made formations and then lit up parts of their costumes to create words and images.  Posted by Picasa

The warm up show was "The Scared Weird Little Guys". They were awesome, I think it was a much better warm up act than for the opening of the games. In this picture, they are trying to get everyone in the stadium to flash their cameras at the same time. It worked surprisingly well! We also did a Mexican wave with our flashes, but thats harder to show on my blog.  Posted by Picasa

We are off to the MCG for the last event in this year's Commonwealth Games. The 16th Games closing ceremony.  Posted by Picasa

Grandma's sister and her daughter came down from Sydney to see Grandma and wish Grandma a happy birthday.  Posted by Picasa

Saturday night was Grandma's 80th birthday celebration. We all went out for dinner to help celebrate.  Posted by Picasa

Gold was won by Cypres... He broke the games record of consecutive shots without missing! 100 in a row. I don't think I could have done that. Aussies won Silver.  Posted by Picasa
